VidMob Raises Additional $6.4M to Build New Data & Insights Tools

Marketers experience so many obstacles when it comes to digital and social advertising and it’s been our mission these past two years to remove every creative barrier. Brands, large and small, hire VidMob to help them navigate the increasingly fragmented ads landscape and tell stories that feel personal and native to each platform. Our clients like Michael Kors, Mondelez, and Birdwell Beach Britches have seen tremendous success capturing consumer attention and compelling them to take action because, done the right way, a :06 vertical video ad is extremely powerful.

But is one :06 ad all you need? Sadly, nope. Marketers are realizing that no matter how much consumer research has been collected, it’s impossible to predict which creative execution will resonate most with each audience segment.  You have to pre-test, iterate, test some more…and on and on. Consumers are fickle, ad formats and best practices change constantly, and new ideas become stale in days (sometimes hours). That’s why we have spent the past six months building a suite of creative analytics tools to get marketers “unstuck” when it comes to creative testing. We recently raised an additional $6.4 million to pioneer a technology platform that will empower marketers to precisely identify which creative attributes in a video impact performance. We can’t wait to tell you more.

Oh, and guess what? We opened a London office! James Bacon, Google’s former Head of Premium Content Solutions EMEA, joined VidMob to lead European sales operations.

Thanks to resources like Unsplash, finding beautiful and authentic stock content is as easy as a quick keyword search. For brands in a pinch, good stock can help bring to life stunning creative ideas without the hassle, time, and cost of traditional production. It’s why brands as big as Apple and artists as small indie filmmakers consistently rely on it—utilizing stock is super efficient and the possibilities are endless (see below for ideas!).

IDEAS FOR USING UNSPLASH IN YOUR VIDMOB PROJECTS:

There are so many ways to bring motion to still imagery—with a little graphic massaging from a talented VidMob Creator, any asset can become compelling video content. Here are a few of our favorite ways to transform beautiful photos into even better video:

1. Cinemagraphs
Isolating movement to a specific element in the visual, i.e. a steaming coffee cup, a running waterfall, or passing traffic. In a cinemagraph, the rest of the visual is still while the isolated element repeats movement on a loop, similar to a GIF.

2. Animations
Adding an animated effect, like writing in script or a butterfly that floats into and off the frame, allows for the still to feel like a backdrop to whatever animation you add on top.

3. Parallax Effect
Separating the foreground and the background of an image gives it a three-dimensional feel, adding depth. Combined with a zoom or pan effect, it makes the still come alive.

Our Series A Funding Announcement

My, how time flies! Two years ago this month, we launched our mobile app. A year ago this month, we launched our desktop app. This month, we are so proud to announce that we’ve raised our Series A funding.

What this means to our team, our creator community, and all those who have believed in us from the get-go is hard to put into words. We’re super excited about building out an even stronger team across our four locations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Massachusetts. And we’re eager to ramp up our ability help even more companies, agencies, and brands improve their video production efforts and make human creativity scalable.

Our New LA Office!

Our west coast team is growing fast (we’re hiring!), so it was high time for an office space upgrade to accommodate. We’re excited to share with you a little behind-the-scenes tour of VidMob West’s new home base.

Nestled at the base of the Hollywood Hills, VidMob West secured a spacious condo and converted into a pretty rad place to work.

The big, open-air layout and high ceilings allow for plenty of energizing California sunshine and blue sky views—with the added bennie of a conference room that overlooks a pool!

The industrial-mod decor gives the space a streamlined, polished look, while the pops of teal are a bright nod to the vibrancy of the nearby Pacific coast.
