UNSDG 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all
“The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action by all countries – poor, rich, and middle-income – to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. They recognize that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and address a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities while tackling climate change and environmental protection. ” – United Nations

The Cause

Many cancer treatments can unfortunately have a negative impact on the appearance, including the loss of distinguishing facial features like eyebrows or lashes. This unwelcome side-effect risks stigmatizing sufferers, and impacting their mental health in the process.

Look Good Feel Better (LGFB), a nonprofit organization in Switzerland — and part of a global network of sister organizations worldwide — offers free workshops to help cancer patients boost their self-confidence by tending to their looks during this stressful time.

“The workshops help women, men, and teens to recognize themselves in the mirror once again, so they can start to feel more like themselves.”

Neera Steinke
Operations Manager, Look Good Feel Better Switzerland

LGFB workshops are offered online and in-person, in four languages, and across more than 45 participating Swiss hospitals, clinics, and cancer centers.

In partnership with a network of volunteer beauty professionals and brands, more than one thousand women each year learn how to care for their skin while receiving treatment, including how to create a healthy, natural look.

Our Partnership

VidMob Gives was initially introduced to LGFB through its matching program on Alaya, a platform that pairs businesses with opportunities to contribute to good causes. For the Swiss nonprofit, it was the perfect opportunity to collaborate on a national brand awareness campaign, and to help the cancer community.

Along with raising awareness, Look Good Feel Better also hoped to raise funds for 500 women, in particular, to get “new” eyebrows, and to restore their confidence in the process.

The Result

“Having a great story, a great video…can work wonders!”

By pairing LGFB’s existing photo and video clips with VidMob’s music, copy, and editing services, the organization was quickly able to produce a set of impactful brand assets to mobilize potential donors across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. These included:

  • Two 30-second hero videos in French and German
  • One 15-second brand asset in English, posted on Instagram.

The release of the videos was timed to coincide with Word Cancer Day, in February 2021, for German and English speakers, and Switzerland’s Day of the Sick for French speakers.

Despite being the organization’s first ever video-based awareness campaign, it raised twice as much in donations as any previous campaign, and in record time too.

Finally, by gifting materials to give people the appearance of new eyebrows, Look Good Feel Better helped 500 cancer sufferers to get a kind confidence boost.
